The library is composed of ten departments that employ students part-time (10-20 hours per week). Job duties vary for each department.
Each department head does his/her own interviewing, and hiring.
When a department head has an opening, they will request the application file and contact you by telephone if they choose to interview you.

Head of Circulation (Research Assistant)
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks a qualified, experienced and responsible candidate for Head of Circulation for the Ottenheimer Library, (req #: 500). The Head of Circulation works under the supervision of the Director of Academic Services and Resources and is responsible for the management and administration of the Circulation Department and provision of patron access to the resources of the Library. The Library is open 88 hours per week.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Supervising all circulation staff, hiring, training, scheduling, maintaining personnel records and conducting annual performance reviews.
2. Providing circulation services via the online integrated system.
3. Consulting with the Head of Library IT regarding the automated system as needed.
4. Maintaining copying services which includes photocopiers, printers and print card sales.
5. Maintaining the Library’s collection by processing and counting all items to be reshelved according to proper filing rules.
6. Overseeing regular maintenance of Library stacks.
7. Maintaining a paper and electronic reserve collection.
8. Creating procedures for manual and system-generated reports, holds, overdue notices, reserve material processing and maintenance of patron database.
9. Conducting a monthly survey of all material usage and staff activity and creating monthly and annual reports.
10. Maintaining a yearly calendar of Library hours and closings.
11. Coordinating departmental activities as needed with the Head of Interlibrary, the Head of Reference and other department heads.
12. Resolving patron complaints and appeals.
13. Supervise Library cash register and petty cash monies and daily deposits to Cashier’s Office.
14. Coordinate and oversee housing of the circulating and reserve collections by evaluating space availability, incoming and expanding collections, usage patterns, etc.
15. Performing other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
2. Four years successful full-time work experience performing tasks related to the responsibilities of this position.

Reference Librarian
The University of Arkansas at Little Rock Ottenheimer Library, seeks a service-oriented, energetic individual for the position of Reference Librarian (req #: 541) to provide general reference assistance and instruction services. This is a faculty appointment with rank, leading to tenure. The successful candidate will be a member of a collaborative reference unit consisting of five librarians and one research associate.
Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of Reference, Reference Librarians provide general reference assistance in-person and using multiple electronic means. Through a departmental liaison program, reference librarians promote library resources and provide bibliographic instruction to individuals and in a classroom environment. Book selection for selected disciplines or departments will be required.
Requirements: MLS/MLIS from an ALA Accredited program required, knowledge of information tools, strong service orientation, high-quality interpersonal, organizational, team-building and oral and written communication. Post-MLS experience in an academic library is required and teaching experience is highly preferred. Familiarity with traditional and a variety of electronic research tools will be necessary. Hours will include one evening per week and weekends in rotation.

Reference Librarian/Instruction Coordinator
The Ottenheimer Library seeks an energetic, creative candidate for the position of Reference Librarian/Instruction Coordinator (. This is a faculty status, tenure-track position. The candidate will be required to meet the Library's criteria for promotion and tenure, which include librarianship, service and scholarship/research.
Instruction responsibilities include one-shot instruction sessions, library tours, preparation of electronic/print guides, coordinates activities and programs for library instruction, including scheduling of the Menz Instruction room and upkeep of the equipment in that room.
